Markdown Images Not Displaying

At one point I added images in notes as markdown and they displayed just fine when using the  syntax. That doesn't seem to work anymore. Try  in a note. Weirder still, previously linked images show as links to the alt text. Enter  into a note and it displays as !Alt with a link to the image. Any plans to allow images to display in markdown again? Thanks.
